2Moons Guides *HOT* Vicious Summoner Guides (4)

The Vicious Summoner Guide

I decided to write a small guide about the Vicious Summoner to help new (and old?) players play their class more efficiently.
This is based on my experiences of the class (level 44 so far). So not everything might be accurate. I’m hoping to build build up one giant sticky where you can find ALL the information you need about summoners. To do that I need your help. If there is/are flaws on the thread or you have something you would like to have added here please PM me. I would also like to inform you that this is the first guide I’ve ever made on any game and it is based on incomplete information as I have played the game for only 5 days and havent been able to test out all the skills. That’s why I need your help to expand this guide to cover all areas of Summoner gameplay.1. Class Concept (my thoughts)
The Vicious Summoner is a very powerful class in PvE - by controlling powerful summons you can kill enemies much more powerful than you. Many people have said that at higher levels the summoners sucks in PvP. [ego]Today earlier in the day I won 2 out of 2 times a level 47 Azure Knight. I also won 2 out of 2 times a level 51 Incar Magician, so the talks about summoner being sucky in the higher lvls seem to be bullscheiß. [/ego]
The Summoner can be either melee (Twin Sword) or caster (Staff) oriented. Having fast attacks with Twin Swords that can deal quite alot damage but also having various spells that harm the enemy and/or benefit you. Because the Summoner has powerful melee and caster abilities and pets, the defenses of a Summoner are not that great. There’s not much defensive abilities nor high Defense rating. That is why players playing the Summoner should focus on outdamaging their enemies - killing them before they kill you.2. Pets
The Summoner has a large choice of pets to summon and control.
Remember that you can only summon and control only one pet at a time.
The common concept is that if you choose Staff you begin to build on the Beast pet tree and if you go Twin Swords you choose the Libido tree.
Libido
Tarantula
Good: You get it on a relatively low level. It does good damage and in PvP it ignores players’ shield, dealing direct damage to their health. Ranged Attack.
Bad: Gets killed rather easily and has somewhat slow attack speed.
Damage type: Poison
Abilities: Has a chance poison the target dealing poison damage over time.
Aldebaran
Good: High health, high armor, fast attack speed, good damage and a chance to stun the target on hit.
Bad: Sometimes the Aldebaran can get confused when you or it is attacked by two or more monsters. It will just run in-between the monsters.
Damage type: Physical
Abilities: Has a chance to stun the target.
Tentator
Good: Deals AoE damage. ??
Bad: ??

Abilities: Splash (AOE) damage.

Grewpain

2a. Controlling Your Pets
When you attack a single enemy it usually isnt a problem to kill it. But what if you are attacked by a multiple monsters? You should always aim on one thing: you taking as few hits as possible. That can be done by various ways.
Pet Control Types
I will be focusing on Order Attack and Free-modes on this section, the rest 3 functions dont have much to discuss about.
Stop(Shift+R) - Stops your pet. The only thing he will do is that he will be following you.
Call(Shift+E) - Calls the creature to come at you.
Unsummon(Shift+A) - Unsummons the pet.
Quite useless “mode”. This one will make your pet disappear but you dont need to unsummon your pet in order to summon a new pet. The only use I would see for this skill is to unsummon your pet for a petless duel.. then again you can always set it on Stop-mode.
Order Attack(Shift+Q) - Orders your pet to attack the target you command it to attack.
First press the Shift+Q hotkey. Then doubleclick on the enemy you want it to attack and it will do so. Uses on this command are infinite. For an example you can send your pet in the middle of enemies drawing their attention and leaving you free to attack any of the monsters. You can also use it to take aggro off you, or to make it pull monsters. ***There is a bug with this mode. You can only order the pet to attack once and after that you have to press Shift+Q again for it to work***
Free(Shift+W) - The summoned creature will attack freely.
Activate this mode by pressing Shift+W, your summon will then proceed to attack anyone who damages you, who you damage and who damages the summon. There’s many uses for this skill as well, i.e you hit some monster once and your summon will start hitting it grabbing aggro, and you can do it to as many monsters as you want. There’s one downside to this mode though, sometimes when attacked by 2 enemies i.e archers your pet might just run in the middle of the monsters not being able to hit either one of them since it doesnt focus on one monster only.
3. Stats
I will leave DEX out because summoners have no use for that stat.
SPR - Spirit
-Increases your Mana Points. 1Spirit =1MP. Increases your magical damage dealing capacity.
-The most important statpoint of a Staff Summoner.
STR - Strenght
-Increases your physical damage dealing abilities.
-The most important statpoint of a Twin Sword Summoner.
HEAL - (Con)
-Increases your Health Points and your Shield.
-Heal should be the second most important statpoint of all Summoners.
3a. Adding Statpoints
Statpoints are very forgiving. Even if you miss one or two statpoints from some stat, it doesnt really matter, since you can add those missing points by leveling up.
Weapons require either SPR or STR + they have a level requirement. Staves require much more SPR than they require STR. Twin Swords require much more STR than SPR. My favorite style to add statpoints (Twin Sword Summoner) is to add statpoints to STR and HEAL throughout the level. And pump the SPR required for the next weapon at the last one or two levels.
Assuming Twin Swords: 4STR 1HEAL per level is probably enough if you do not plan to do much PvP. 3STR and 2HEAL is recommended if you plan to do alot of PvP. You can pump SPR at the last one or two levels to meet the weapons requirements.
Assuming Staves: 4SPR 1HEAL per level for PvE, 3SPR 2HEAL for more PvP orientated statbuild. Pump STR at the last possible level to meet the weapon requirements.
NOTE: There are many, many, many ways to play around with stats, this isnt the only right way, but it’s secure and you most likely wont screw up your stats.
NOTE2: PUT ONLY AS MUCH STR/SPR AS THE WEAPON REQUIRES.
4. Skills
I recommend you to choose Twin Swords in the beginning and start leveling up the Twin Sword side of the combat tree. In my opinion Twin Swords deal more damage, faster and tend to be easier in the beginning.
Twin Sword - Libido
Buy Twin Sword Mastery, Blade Spin. Upgrade these skills until you hit level 15. Buy Libido Mastery and Tarantula. Upgrade all four skills whenever possible. Buy Devil Swing and upgrade Twin Sword Mastery, Blade Spin and Tarantula as often as you can. When reaching level 34 do NOT upgrade your Tarantula anymore, since you will be getting a new pet at 36. Learn Evolt Shot, Spirit Dagger and Blood Bats when you acquire the appropriate level.
Your Blade Spin and Twin Mastery should be maxed out now. Upgrade Libido Mastery, Aldebaran and Devil Swing. Learn Blade Dance at level 52. Learn Poison Sword, upgrade your Twin Sword combat abilities and Libido abilities. Learn Tentator. Level up and upgrade your Libido and Twin Sword Combat abilities until you hit 150 and enjoy.
NOTE: If you want to do PvP at higher lvls you can reset your skills & stats and choose Staff which is considered superior in PvP compared to Twin Swords.
NOTE2: You can learn and upgrade Skin of the Foreign World if you want.
Staff - Beast
Learn Vicious Mastery, Vicious Thorn, Evolt Shot. Upgrade those skills. Learn Beast Mastery, Grewpain and Spirit Dagger (not sure if affected by SPR, if not leave at lvl 1.) Upgrade all of the previous skills. Learn Regulus, Blood Bats, Venom Light. Upgrade all of the previous skills except Grewpain. Learn Summon Ghost and Selaim. Upgrade all of the previous skills except Grewpain and Regulus. Level up and upgrade your Beast and Staff Combat abilities until you hit level 150. Y
NOTE: You can also PvP with this build if you’ve built up enough HEAL.

First, you have the beast and libido switched for staff and twin, although the first beasts are very usefull for staff, the other 2 aren’t that much, but are for Twin, the same aplies to libido, first 2 usefull for twin, other 2 useless, the first pets are the best, if you’re pvping at lvl 150 you should still be using an Aldebaran, 75% chance of stun is just uber. Please do note that the first summons are usefull for BOTH, i just said it that way to explain why you might have gotten it wrong, and this is for PVP, bregon and selaim can be very usefull at PVE.
Twin swords are a lot easier at the begining but if you get used to using staff right from the start, it might be better later on.
Mentioning the usefullness of skills might help this guide, here i’ll help you a bit:
Crosshack: You can upgrade it if you want (you shouldn’t), but after the reset it must remain at 1, its useless. Don’t upgrade it if you’re staff though, that would be just stupid.
Masteries: Raise the mastery specific to your style to its MAX.
BladeSpin: Max it, after the reset make it low priority, lvl it when you have nothing better to spend on, but lvl it nonetheless..
Evolt Shot: Read above, remember the poison damage is always usefull.
Vicious Thorns: MAX IT ASAP, good damage, good cooldown, fast casting, poison, high chance of slowdown, i don’t need to say more do I?
Spirit Dagger: 100% Useless, leave it at 1, maybe a twin summoner can find use for it, i a staff user certainly don’t, i’m not sure it uses STR either.
Skin: Very important for Twin, quite usefull for staff, Max it, the reflected damage can be very usefull.
Devil Swing: MAX IT, very important for twin.
Venom Light: Kinda crappy skill, Max it but make it low priority after the reset, if the cooldown was 2 seconds less it would be MAX IT ASAP, but 6 sec just ruins it.
Blood Bats: Useless at pvp really, its SEMI AoE, it only hits 3 times but can be to diferent enemies, depends if the first one dies in less than 3 hits, there is NO BUG, it’s possible to escape the skill, it still adds recovery though, that is what may be the bug. Awsome at PVE for saving pots.
Summon Ghosts: MAX IT, excelent AOE, will make you lvl up a lot faster, not that much usefull in PVP but still usefull nonetheless.
Blade Dance: Read Above, might be less usefull in PVP though.
Infected Earth: 100% USEFULL, might very well be the best Summoner Skill, yes even more than cosmos, it may not have the eye candy but it sure has the usefullness. MAX IT.
Poison Sword: The only skill that might save a twin summoner at high lvls, MAX IT.
Cosmos: I don’t really have to talk about them do i?
As for pets, choose one kind, and max them all, if you have points left, give priority to the LOW LVL pets, the high lvls are more usefull at PVE but suck at PVP.
